18歳以上の馬尾症候群を扱った7編(n=569)のレビューから、レッドフラッグとなる病歴などを調査。

その結果、

肛門括約筋の緊張低下

下肢の疼痛

背中の痛み

サドル麻痺

尿閉

尿失禁

便失禁

が挙げられた。

 

これらの精度は、

感度：0.19(0.09-0.33)～0.43(0.30-0.56)

特異度：0.62(0.59-0.73)～0.88(0.85-0.92)

の範囲だった。

 

感度が高くないので、これらの症状がないからといって、馬尾症候群を否定することはできない。
